Violent Arrest of Karim Asghari a Relative by Marriage of Vrisheh Moradi in Sanandaj

Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that on Sunday, June 8, 2025, Karim Asghari — the brother-in-law of political prisoner Vrisheh Moradi — was violently arrested by agents of the Intelligence Department in Sanandaj.

According to informed sources, around 1:00 PM, security forces raided Mr. Asghari’s workplace in the town of Shuwesheh (a district of Sanandaj) and arrested him with extreme verbal and physical violence, subsequently transferring him to an undisclosed location.

Mehraneh Moradi, Vrisheh’s sister, has also been repeatedly summoned and threatened with arrest by the Intelligence Office in the past. Karim Asghari had previously been arrested in front of Evin Prison.

As of the time of this report, there is no information regarding Mr. Asghari’s whereabouts, the charges brought against him, or his current health condition.

Vrisheh Moradi was arrested on August 1, 2023, and transferred to Evin Prison on December 26 of the same year. In November 2024, she was sentenced to death by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Salavati, on charges of “baghi” (armed rebellion).
