Vahab Khediripour Arrested and Transferred to Mahabad Prison to Serve Prison Sentence

Hana: On Monday, May 19, 2025, Vahab Khediripour, a resident of Mahabad, was arrested after being summoned to the Enforcement Branch of the Criminal Court in the city and was transferred to Mahabad Prison to begin serving his prison sentence.

Vahab Khediripour had previously been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court to 10 months in prison on charges of “collaboration with a Kurdish opposition party against the Iranian government.” The verdict was officially communicated to him in late March 2025.

On January 29, 2025, Khediripour was arrested by the Intelligence Office in Mahabad after being summoned—without the presentation of legal documentation—and subsequently transferred to Mahabad Prison. He was temporarily released on February 19, 2025, after posting bail set at 5 billion rials (approximately 500 million tomans).

It is worth noting that Vahab Khediripour is the cousin of Shamal Khediripour, one of the victims of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” revolutionary movement, and the brother of Sohrab Khediripour, a member of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan, who was killed by Iranian government forces in 2021.
