Uncertainty surrounding the fate of Naser Zomorodi a Kurdish detainee from Ilam held in temporary detention

According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization, on Friday, July 4, 2025, a Kurdish citizen identified as Naser Zomorodi, 38 years old and a resident of Ilam, was arrested after being summoned to Branch 7 of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Public and Revolutionary Court in Ilam.

A source familiar with the case confirmed the arrest in a statement to Hana and reported that Mr. Zomorodi is facing charges of “insulting Islamic sanctities,” “insulting the Supreme Leader,” “propaganda against the state,” and “spreading false information.” He has been placed under two months of temporary detention and transferred to a security detention facility, the exact location of which remains unknown.

According to the same source, Mr. Zomorodi has been denied access to legal counsel and contact with his family, and he has not made any communication with his relatives since his arrest.
