Transfer of labor activist Amjad Geryakhiz to Sanandaj Prison for the enforcement of his prison sentence

Hana Human Rights Organization – On Monday, July 7, 2025, Amjad Geryakhiz, a labor activist from Sanandaj, was transferred to Sanandaj Prison to begin serving his prison sentence.
Mr. Geryakhiz had previously been sentenced by Branch 1 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court to six months of mandatory imprisonment and two years of suspended imprisonment on charges of “propaganda against the regime” and “inciting bazaar merchants to strike.” The sentence was officially communicated to him on August 8, 2025.

This civil activist had earlier been arrested on January 22, 2025 in Sanandaj by security forces during public protests against executions. He was eventually released from Sanandaj Prison on February 25, 2025 (Esfand 7, 1403) after posting bail.
