According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization: On Wednesday, April 16, 2025, Hamid Hosseinnezhad Heydaranlou, a political prisoner sentenced to death, was transferred from the political ward of Orumiyeh Central Prison to the prison’s quarantine ward. This transfer took place in preparation for the imminent execution of his death sentence.
A source close to Mr. Hosseinnezhad’s family told Hana that he has been transferred to quarantine, and his family has been informed to visit the prison for a final meeting. According to his lawyer, the execution of Mr. Hosseinnezhad’s sentence is scheduled for Friday, April 18.
In recent days, the death sentence of Hamid Hosseinnezhad Heydaranlou was upheld in full by Branch 9 of the Supreme Court, and the ruling was officially communicated to the Kurdish political prisoner on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in Orumiyeh Central Prison.
Hamid Hosseinnezhad Heydaranlou, a 39-year-old political prisoner, is married, the father of three children, and a resident of the village of Segrik in Chaldoran County. He was arrested on April 13, 2023, at the Chaldoran border by border guard forces and was initially transferred to the Chaldoran Border Guard Detention Center, and later to the Intelligence Detention Center in Orumiyeh.
Mr. Hosseinnezhad Heydaranlou was held for 11 months and 10 days in the Intelligence Detention Center in Orumiyeh, where he was subjected to severe psychological and physical torture to force a confession about participating in an armed conflict involving the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and Iranian border forces.
Due to his lack of sufficient literacy, he was forced under torture to sign documents that had been pre-written by security interrogators.
In late July 2024, Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court of Orumiyeh, presided over by Judge Najafzadeh, sentenced him to death on the charge of “rebellion” (baghi) through alleged membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
He is currently being held in Ward 2 (Admission Ward) of Orumiyeh Central Prison. Since his arrest, he has only been allowed two phone calls with his family and has been denied access to a lawyer and all of his basic human rights.
