According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, in recent days, three construction workers in the cities of Saqqez, Oshnavieh, and Bukan have lost their lives due to the lack of workplace safety standards.
On Tuesday, 30 September 2025, Javad Bahrami, 24, son of Abdolrahman, married and a resident of Saqqez, died while working on a partially constructed building in Phase Two of the Farhangian area of the city, after falling from an 8-meter elevator shaft.
Earlier, on Sunday, 28 September 2025, Mohammad Abdollahpour, 53, married with three children and a resident of Oshnavieh, died from electric shock caused by voltage fluctuations and faulty wiring in a workplace where safety protocols were not observed.
On the same day, Sunday, 27 September 2025, Kamal Azizi, a resident of Bukan who had suffered a traumatic brain injury about two months earlier from a fall from scaffolding, passed away in a hospital in Tabriz. Kamal Azizi was married and the father of two children.
It is noteworthy that in recent years, due to the lack of workplace safety and employers’ negligence regarding health and safety regulations, the number of occupational accidents in Kurdistan and other parts of Iran has been steadily increasing. According to international human rights and labor standards, governments are obligated to ensure the health and safety of workers in the workplace.
