According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization, on Friday, 9 January 2026, three members of a family—Bijan Mostafavi, a retired education employee from Sonqor County; his wife, Zahra Bani-Amirian, a retired employee of the Social Security Organization; and their 19-year-old son, Danial Mostafavi, a university student—lost their lives following gunfire by repressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Karaj County.
According to received reports, the family was inside their private car at the time of the incident, which was targeted with a burst of gunfire by repressive forces amid the protests.
It should be noted that Davood Mostafavi, the elder son of the family, was also in the car during the incident; however, as of the preparation of this report, no accurate information is available regarding his physical condition or fate.
