According to Hana Human Rights Organization, on Sunday, December 8, 2024, four teachers named Omid Shahmohammadi, Hiwa Qureshi, Parviz Ehsani, and Kaveh Mohammadzadeh were dismissed from their positions by the Administrative Violations Review Board of the Ministry of Education following a completely unfair and non-transparent investigation.
According to the report, Omid Shahmohammadi, Hiwa Qureshi, and Kaveh Mohammadzadeh were dismissed from their jobs, while Parviz Ehsani was exiled to the city of Qorveh for five years.
It is noteworthy that all four individuals had previously been sentenced to five years of imprisonment by the First Branch of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Hossein Saeidi. The charges against them were “acting against national security through membership in Kurdish opposition parties against the Iranian government.”
These teachers were arrested by security forces on June 15, 2022, and transferred to the Sanandaj Intelligence Detention Center for interrogation. They were eventually released temporarily on August 31, 2022, each posting bail of 1.5 billion tomans.
Omid Shahmohammadi had also previously been sentenced to one year of imprisonment by the First Branch of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court on charges of “acting against national security.”
Hana Human Rights Organization condemns these unjust rulings and affirms that investigations by administrative violations boards for government employees often fail to adhere to international human rights standards and the principles of the International Labour Organization regarding individuals’ right to work. These boards frequently deprive individuals of their fundamental rights based on the ideological principles of the Islamic Republic, violating their legitimate rights.
