The death sentence of Vrisheh Moradi a political prisoner has been overturned by Iran’s Supreme Court

According to the Hana Human Rights Organization, the death sentence issued for “Vrisheh Moradi,” a Kurdish political prisoner previously sentenced by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, has been overturned by Branch 9 of Iran’s Supreme Court due to deficiencies in the investigation.

In this regard, Mostafa Nili, the prisoner’s defense lawyer, announced on his X account that “after the Supreme Court reviewed the appeal filed on behalf of Ms. Vrisheh Moradi, the ruling issued by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court was overturned due to flaws in the investigation and the failure to comply with legal procedures, including the lack of formal explanation of the charge that formed the basis for the death sentence during the judicial process. The case has been returned to the same branch for reconsideration.”

It is noteworthy that on Wednesday, 10 December 2025, the decision overturning Vrisheh Moradi’s death sentence was formally communicated to her defense lawyers.
