The continued detention and lack of information regarding the fate of Mohammadali Veisi an environmental activist

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, Mohammadali Veisi, a 33-year-old environmental activist from Saqqez, has remained in a state of complete incommunicado detention since his arrest.

Hana has learned that during this period, Mohammadali Veisi has only been able to make two brief phone calls to his family.

Mr. Veisi was arrested on Sunday, 9 November 2025, by security forces at his workplace without the presentation of a judicial warrant, and was transferred to the Shahramfar detention facility in Sanandaj.

It should be noted that, as of the time of publication of this report, security and judicial authorities have provided no explanation regarding the reasons for his arrest, the charges against him, or his legal status.

The Hana Human Rights Organization has expressed concern over the continued detention and lack of information regarding Mr. Veisi’s situation, and calls for immediate clarification of his legal status, the observance of detainees’ fundamental rights including access to legal counsel and regular contact with family, and accountability on the part of the responsible authorities.
