On Sunday, January 12, 2025, Galawizh Mohammadi-Arshad, a 45-year-old resident of Mahabad, was arrested after being summoned to the Enforcement of Criminal Judgments Office in Mahabad. She was subsequently transferred to Orumiyeh Prison to serve her sentence.
According to received reports, Galawizh Mohammadi-Arshad had previously been sentenced to four months of discretionary imprisonment by Branch 1 of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Sajad Dousti, on charges of “propaganda against the regime.”
It is worth noting that she was initially arrested by security forces on August 15, 2024, while returning from work in the Bagh Shaygan neighborhood. She was taken to one of Orumiyeh’s security detention centers for interrogation. After the interrogation process was completed, she was transferred to Orumiyeh Central Prison. Later, on August 28, 2024, she was temporarily released from Orumiyeh Central Prison on bail of 700 million tomans, pending the completion of her trial.
