The Arrest and Torture of a Kurdish Citizen for Posting About the Killing of Two Judges in Tehran

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, a 33-year-old citizen identified as “Hamed Rezaei,” son of Molla Mohammad and a resident of the village of “Bani Sakan” in the Salas-e Babajani district, was arrested by security forces. The arrest followed his Instagram story about the killing of Supreme Court judges, which was posted on the village’s Instagram page where he served as the admin. Rezaei was violently detained.

A source familiar with the matter reported that Mr. Rezaei, along with his family, was on the road from Salas Babajani to Javanrud when security forces stopped them. He was violently arrested in front of his mother and sister and transferred to the IRGC Intelligence Detention Center. There, he was subjected to further beatings and torture, which ultimately left him unable to speak.

The source added that after Rezaei nearly lost consciousness and his ability to speak due to the severe torture, security forces transferred him to a hospital in Salas Babajani. They then contacted his family by phone, informing them that their son was in the hospital.

Hamed Rezaei’s family went to the hospital as instructed and, after a day, took him home. His condition remains critical.
