Hana: On Tuesday, September 16, 2025 (coinciding with the third anniversary of the state killing of Jina Amini), security forces of the Intelligence Department in Sanandaj arrested Daya Nehiya Rahimi, the mother of justice-seeker Ramin Fatehi—one of the victims of the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising—and released her after several hours of interrogation and threats.
Rada Fatehi, Ramin’s sister and a former detainee of the Jina uprising, wrote on her Instagram page that Sanandaj Intelligence agents subjected her 71-year-old mother—despite her pre-existing health conditions and fragile physical state—to severe psychological pressure.
She added: “Imagine a grieving mother being taken back to the very place where her son was killed, not for truth and justice, but for humiliation, threats, and to silence her.”
According to Rada Fatehi, the agents demanded that her mother abandon her quest for justice, refrain from participating in memorials or anniversaries, and ensure that her child living abroad also remains silent. Otherwise, they warned, they would “silence her in their own way.”
Despite her advanced age and underlying illnesses, Daya Nehiya Rahimi continues to be in poor health.
Rada Fatehi stressed: “I testify that today my mother was tortured once again—through threats, humiliation, and pressure.”
Ramin Fatehi was killed under torture by security forces in Sanandaj detention on October 21, 2022. Authorities later declared his death a “suicide” and buried him in Behesht Mohammadi Cemetery in Sanandaj without his family’s consent.
