According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, in recent days, the death sentence of Hamid Hosseinnejad Heydaranlu was upheld in Branch 9 of the Supreme Court, and on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the ruling was officially communicated to this Kurdish political prisoner in Orumiyeh Central Prison.
Hamid Hosseinnejad Heydaranlu, a 39-year-old political prisoner, is married and a father of three. He is a resident of Segrik village, located in Chaldoran County.
He was arrested by border forces on April 13, 2023, at the Chaldoran border, and was first transferred to the Chaldoran Border Forces Detention Center before being moved to the Orumiyeh Intelligence Detention Center.
Mr. Heydaranlu endured severe physical and psychological torture for 11 months and 10 days at the Intelligence Detention Center in Orumiyeh, as interrogators attempted to extract a forced confession regarding his alleged involvement in an armed conflict between PKK (Kurdistan Workers’ Party) forces and border guards.
Lacking sufficient literacy, he was subjected to torture and forced to sign pre-prepared documents dictated by security interrogators.
In late July 2024, Branch 1 of the Orumiyeh Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Najafzadeh, sentenced him to death on charges of “rebellion” (baghi) through membership in the PKK.
Hamid Hosseinnejad Heydaranlu is currently detained in Ward 2 (Admission Ward) of Orumiyeh Central Prison. Since his arrest, he has only been allowed to contact his family twice and has been denied legal representation and all fundamental human rights.
