Amir Raeesian, the lawyer representing Pakhshan Azizi, stated in an interview with Sharq Network that Branch 9 of the Supreme Court has issued a ruling rejecting Azizi’s retrial request.
According to Raeesian, “This branch rejected our retrial request on the grounds that the objections raised against the verdict and the judicial process were substantive in nature.”
Raeesian further emphasized that “The stay of execution order, which had been issued during the retrial proceedings, was revoked on February 1, 2025, and the case was referred back to the enforcement of sentences. Unfortunately, the risk of execution looms at any moment.”
The Hana Human Rights Organization expresses deep concern over the Supreme Court’s decision to reject Pakhshan Azizi’s retrial and urgently calls on human rights organizations to take immediate action regarding her case, as there is a real danger that the Islamic Republic of Iran may carry out her execution in secret.
