According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization, on Sunday, June 1, 2025, fifteen teachers’ union activists in the city of Sanandaj were summoned by Branch 109 of the Second Criminal Court of Sanandaj on charges of “disturbing public order and peace.”
Based on information from a reliable source, the individuals summoned are: Mohammadreza Moradi, Salah-e din Hajimirzaei, Behzad Ghavami, Seyed Ghiyas Na’mati, Reza Tahmasbi, Shahriar Naderi, Aram Ebrahimi, Sadegh Kanani, Majid Karimi, Mokhtar Asadi, Fatemeh Zandkarimi, Nasrin Karimi, Faisal Nouri, Rezgar Heydari, and Kourosh Ezzati Amini.
These union activists are required to appear in court on June 9, 2025, to present their final defense.
Previously, on March 12, 2025, the Sanandaj Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office issued indictments against these individuals, citing their participation in protest gatherings held in June 2022 and requested that they be prosecuted.
Hana Human Rights Organization considers these summonses to be part of a broader policy aimed at suppressing civil liberties and exerting pressure on union activists in Kurdistan. The organization calls for an end to the criminalization and securitization of teachers and civil activists in Iran.
