According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, Diako Yazdanpanah, a Kurdish citizen from the city of Bukan, was summoned to the Enforcement Unit of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Bukan to begin serving a two-year prison sentence.
Following his summons, Diako Yazdanpanah was arrested by the Bukan Security Police and held in their detention center, where he was subjected to severe physical and psychological torture for several days. According to sources close to his family and photos received by Hana, visible signs of torture inflicted by security forces can clearly be seen on his body.
After three days in the custody of the Security Police, Mr. Yazdanpanah was transferred to the detention facility of the Bukan Criminal Investigation Department (Agahi), where he was again interrogated and tortured for another three days, this time under the accusation of “evading military service.”
After completing the interrogation period, he was transferred to Bukan Prison and was eventually released on bail on June 23, 2024.
His court session was held on October 16, 2024, at Branch 101 of the Second Criminal Court of Bukan, where he was sentenced to two years in prison for “insulting the Supreme Leader” and an additional eight months for “absence of military service conscripts.”
