According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization:
On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Hamed Garavand, a 34-year-old prisoner from Sartarhan village, a district of Kuhdasht County in Lorestan Province, committed suicide by consuming a large number of pills in Qeimas Mahidasht Prison in Kermanshah and lost his life.
According to the report, after approaching a judiciary officer in Kermanshah named Eini to follow up on his request for temporary leave, he was met with an insulting response and his request was rejected. Following this incident, he took his own life.
The body of this prisoner was transferred to the Kermanshah Forensic Medicine Department and subsequently handed over to his family.
Hamed Garavand had been arrested several years ago in Tehran on charges related to “drug offenses.” He was initially sentenced to 26 years of imprisonment, which was later reduced to 13 years by the Supreme Court.
