According to information from Hana Human Rights Organization, on the evening of Sunday, 16 November 2025, a man named Jalal Hosseini killed his wife and father-in-law, Namam Farhoush and Khaled Farhoush, residents of Mahabad, in the area known as the “Municipal Lands” of the city using a firearm.
An informed source told Hana, “Namam Farhoush and her husband, Jalal Hosseini, had long-standing serious marital disputes, and their divorce case was ongoing in the city’s family court.”
According to Hana’s investigations, the perpetrator fled the crime scene after committing the killings and has not yet been apprehended.
Hana Human Rights Organization strongly condemns these murders and emphasizes once again that the lack of effective legal protections for women is a key factor in such tragedies. Granting men legal authority as heads of the family under the Civil Code, along with discriminatory and dehumanizing legal principles such as “obedience to the husband” and the doctrine of “disobedient wife,” are among the primary drivers of so-called honor killings in Iran.
