Severe Injury of Baneh Kolbar Khaled Ahmadian Following Border Guard Gunfire

According to received reports, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, a kolbar identified as Khaled Ahmadian—married, father of four, and a resident of the village of “Sivuch” in Baneh County—was severely injured by gunfire from border guard forces.

Reports indicate that Mr. Ahmadian was engaged in kolbari at the “Hangjal” border area of Baneh when he was directly shot by border guard forces without prior warning, sustaining serious injuries to his pelvis.

According to Hana sources, the injured kolbar was transferred to a hospital in Tabriz for medical treatment, where his condition has been reported as critical.

It is worth noting that on Saturday, August 9, 2025, another kolbar, Rahim Ahmadi—married, father of two, and a resident of Baneh—was also seriously injured in the leg by direct gunfire from Islamic Republic armed forces in the “Zali” border area of this county.

The phenomenon of kolbari in the border areas of Kurdistan has become a daily and unavoidable means of livelihood due to unemployment and systemic discrimination in these regions. Armed forces of the Islamic Republic routinely attack kolbars in the border zones, directly targeting them with gunfire, often resulting in casualties.

According to statistics from the Hana Human Rights Organization, in just the past month, 12 kolbars in the border areas of Kurdistan have been killed or injured as a result of direct gunfire from Iranian security forces. This figure is particularly alarming following the 12-day Iran–Israel war, during which casualties among kolbars have increased by approximately 300 percent.
