Sentencing of Kamran Sakhtemangar to three months of discretionary imprisonment and a monetary fine

According to reports from Hana Human Rights Organization, Kamran Sakhtemangar, a labor rights activist from Sanandaj, has been sentenced by Branch 2 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court to three months of discretionary imprisonment and a fine of 30 million tomans, on the charge of “propaganda against the regime.”
The verdict was officially communicated to him on Tuesday, July 15, 2025.

Previously, a hearing regarding the charges against Kamran Sakhtemangar was held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at Branch 2 of the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court.

Additionally, on May 18, 2025, an interrogation session was held at Branch 2 of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Sanandaj. In that session, he was acquitted of the charges of “membership in Komala, assembly and collusion, and insulting the leadership,” and the case was referred to court on the remaining charge of “propaganda against the regime,” along with an indictment.

It is worth noting that Mr. Sakhtemangar was previously arrested on September 29, 2022 by security forces at his home in Sanandaj during the nationwide protests, and was later released on March 8, 2023.

Furthermore, in 2019, Kamran Sakhtemangar was sentenced to five years in prison on the charge of “membership in a Kurdish opposition party” and to one year in prison for “propaganda against the regime.”
