Semko Yousefi a Kurdish-language teacher was arrested by Intelligence Department forces in Bukan

Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that on Monday, 8 December 2025, Semko Yousefi, a Kurdish-language instructor and environmental activist from Bukan County, was arrested at his workplace by Intelligence Department forces and released after several hours of interrogation. During the arrest, his mobile phone was confiscated by the Bukan Intelligence Department.

According to the report, Mr. Yousefi had previously been arrested on Monday, 26 May 2025, without the presentation of judicial documents and with the use of force at his home, and was eventually released on Monday, 23 June 2025 on a temporary basis after posting a 500-million-toman bail.

It should be noted that in recent years, Semko Yousefi has been active in teaching the Kurdish language and in environmental protection efforts in Bukan.
