Saqqez: Deteriorating Health of a Political Prisoner and Denial of Medical Leave

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, a political prisoner identified as Engineer Hassan Bahari, who suffers from diabetes and high blood pressure, has been denied medical leave by prison authorities for over three years.

Based on this report, Hassan Bahari, a 58-year-old father of six from the village of "Siah Darreh," was sentenced to 12 years in prison on June 14, 2020, for allegedly collaborating with the Kurdistan Freedom Party, a Kurdish opposition group. He is currently held in the central prison of Saqqez.

Hassan Bahari is suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure, resulting in severe infections in his body. Despite repeated appeals by his family and himself for medical leave, Saqqez prison authorities have not granted any approval.

It is worth noting that the Hana Human Rights Organization previously released a report on this matter. As a human rights organization, Hana expresses its concern over the refusal to grant medical leave to this political prisoner.
