Report by Hana on the growing wave of arbitrary arrests in Kurdish cities: four more citizens abducted by security forces in Saqqez

According to information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Tuesday, August 19, four citizens in Saqqez — identified as Omid Rahimzadeh (47), Mehdi Kamali (41), Zakaria Moradi (35), and Mohammad Aminpour (30) — were arrested by security forces without any prior summons or judicial warrant and taken to an undisclosed location.

As of the time of this report, no details are available regarding the charges, the place of detention, or the authority responsible for the arrests.

The Prosecutor of Saqqez, who under the provisions of Iran’s Code of Criminal Procedure is legally obliged to provide information to families in cases of detention, has refused to disclose any information about the fate of these four individuals.

It should be noted that such detentions and enforced disappearances, even under the Islamic Republic’s own minimal legal standards, violate the defendants’ right to defense.

The Hana Human Rights Organization expresses grave concern and holds the Saqqez Prosecutor responsible for safeguarding the lives and well-being of these four citizens.
