Rebin Moradi a 17-year-old Kurdish child was killed in Tehran after being directly shot by security forces

Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that Rebin Moradi, a 17-year-old Kurdish child from Salas-e Babajani and a resident of Tehran, was killed in Tehran during the protests on Thursday, January 8, 2026, after being directly shot by the suppressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to Hana’s sources, the family of this 17-year-old child learned of their son’s killing only after four days of uncertainty and continuous follow-up.

Rebin Moradi was a student and an active football player. He was a member of the Saipa Club youth team and competed in the Tehran Youth League. He had previously played in youth football teams, including Parsian Javan Iliya Novin, and had participated in official competitions organized by the Tehran Football Association. He was regarded by his coaches and teammates as one of the recognized talents in Tehran’s grassroots football scene.

Hana Human Rights Organization emphasizes that the use of live ammunition against protesters—especially children and adolescents—constitutes a clear violation of fundamental human rights principles, including the right to life, and is contrary to the international obligations of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
