According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, August 8, 2025, Rahim Ahmadi, a young Kolbar, married and father of two from Baneh, was severely injured by gunfire from the Islamic Republic’s armed forces at the “Zali” border area of this county.
Hana’s sources report that the armed forces fired at this Kolbar without any prior warning. He was severely wounded in the leg and transferred to Baneh Hospital for medical treatment.
The phenomenon of Kolbari (cross-border portering) in the border areas of Kurdistan has become a daily necessity for livelihood due to lack of jobs and systemic discrimination in these regions. The Islamic Republic’s armed forces regularly attack Kolbars in the border areas, targeting them with direct gunfire and causing casualties.
According to statistics from the Hana Human Rights Organization, in just the past month, 12 Kolbars in the Kurdistan border areas have been killed or wounded by direct gunfire from the Islamic Republic’s security forces. This alarming figure has increased by approximately 300% following the 12-day war between Iran and Israel.
