Pressure from Security Forces on the Family and Relatives of Aram Fathi, Poet and Human Rights Activist in Marivan

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, over the past few months, security forces in Marivan have intensified pressure on the family and associates of Aram Fathi, a poet and human rights activist.

In the past two months, several of Fathi’s former colleagues, who were active in community organizations in Marivan, have been subjected to hours-long interrogations, threats, and pressure. These measures aim to coerce them into spying on Fathi’s activities and reporting on his status.

Two months ago, several members of his family were summoned to the Marivan Intelligence Office, where they were interrogated for several hours.

Over the past two days, the news headquarters of the Ministry of Intelligence in this county has contacted all members of the named individual’s family, threatening them that if Aram Fathi’s sister, (Arina Fathi), does not present herself to the Marivan Intelligence Office for interrogation regarding her brother, a legal case will be filed against her.

In recent years, Aram Fathi has been arrested, interrogated, and even threatened with death multiple times by the Ministry of Intelligence and the Revolutionary Guard Intelligence in Marivan. This current wave of pressure on his family and friends comes despite the fact that Fathi has left Iran and now resides in France as a refugee.
