Pouria Sheikhpour died as a result of electrocution in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq

The Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that on the morning of Sunday, November 23, 2025, a worker identified as Pouria Sheikhpour, son of Shah Hossein and a native of Eslamabad-e Gharb in Kermanshah Province, lost his life due to severe injuries caused by electrocution.

According to Hana’s sources, this worker suffered an electric shock while on the job in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq about two weeks ago, resulting in severe burns covering 85 percent of his body.

It is worth noting that, due to widespread poverty and unemployment, workers from Iran’s Kurdistan region are often forced to migrate to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq for work. Because of the lack of workplace safety measures and insufficient oversight, they remain constantly at risk of fatal workplace accidents.
