Hana:
On Saturday, January 25, 2025, Payam Fathi, a labor activist residing in Sanandaj, was summoned to the Intelligence Office of this city and interrogated.
In recent days, at least 14 labor and civil activists in Sanandaj have also been summoned and interrogated.
All these summonses and interrogations have been conducted without the issuance of any judicial order or the clarification of specific charges.
Hana Human Rights Organization states that such summonses and security pressures not only violate the minimum laws of the Islamic Republic regarding citizens’ rights but also contravene the fundamental principles governing labor rights as established by the International Labour Organization (ILO). According to the ILO’s fundamental labor conventions, trade union and labor freedoms are among the basic rights of workers, which, in recent years, have consistently been treated as a security threat by security agencies.
