Orumiyeh: Keyvan Rashozadeh re-arrested by security forces.

According to a report received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Sunday, December 22, 2024, Keyvan Rashozadeh, a former Kurdish political prisoner in Orumiyeh, was re-arrested by security forces.

Keyvan Rashozadeh is from the village of Sinabad, in the Suma-ye Beradust district of Orumiyeh, and resides in the Islamabad area of Orumiyeh.

Based on information from informed sources, Mr. Rashozadeh’s arrest took place at his father’s house without prior summons or an arrest warrant issued by security forces.

It is worth noting that Mr. Rashozadeh’s mother suffered a heart attack due to the sudden and violent raid by security forces to arrest her son.

In a phone call from Orumiyeh Central Prison, Rashozadeh stated that he is in urgent need of medical attention due to severe torture and beatings. However, prison authorities, following orders from security agencies, have refused to transfer him to medical facilities.

According to the internal laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly the Criminal Procedure Code, a detainee has the right to request medical care and access to legal counsel during their detention. However, these rights are systematically denied in cases involving Kurdish political detainees.

In this regard, Hana holds the Orumiyeh prosecutor responsible for Keyvan Rashozadeh’s health condition based on laws overseeing the conduct of security agencies.
