Ongoing Arbitrary Detention and Unlawful Custody of Khedr and Clara Rasouli in a Security Detention Facility in Orumiyeh

According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization:
Thirteen days have passed since the arbitrary and violent arrest of Khedr Rasouli and his daughter Clara Rasouli, residents of Mahabad, by Iranian security forces.

Despite nearly two weeks since their arrest, the father and daughter remain in unlawful custody at a security detention facility in Orumiyeh, without access to legal representation, phone calls, or visits with family members.

According to received reports, in the early hours of Thursday, July 10, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., security forces violently raided the Rasouli family home and arrested the two individuals without presenting a judicial warrant. During the raid, agents broke down the door and subjected family members to severe verbal abuse and threats, creating an atmosphere of fear and intimidation.

Informed sources state that the arrest of Khodr and Clara Rasouli was not based on any specific or legal charge, but rather appears to be in retaliation for the political activities of Karo Rasouli—Khodr’s son and Clara’s brother—who is a Kurdish political activist living abroad and a member of the Central Committee of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI).

Khedr Rasouli has been repeatedly targeted by Iranian security agencies in the past through threats, summonses, and arrests due to his son’s affiliation with an opposition group. He was previously sentenced to five years in prison and subjected to social restrictions for the same reason.

During the “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests, the Rasouli family home was attacked, shot at, and threatened with arson by government forces.

In recent months, Khodr Rasouli has undergone two heart surgeries and, during his current detention, has been denied medical care, putting his life at serious risk.

On July 21, 2025, media outlets affiliated with Iranian security agencies reported—without directly naming him—that a televised confession by “Karo Rasouli’s father” would be aired soon. He has reportedly been accused of “gathering military information and sending it to his son in exchange for money”—a charge that, according to informed sources, is entirely unsubstantiated and the result of coercion, torture, and psychological pressure during detention.

These actions constitute clear examples of arbitrary detention, collective punishment, and violations of fundamental human rights.
