Nahid Khodajo a labor rights activist has been released from Qarchak Prison in Varamin

According to received reports, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, a labor rights activist identified as Nahid Khodajo was released from Qarchak Prison in Varamin.

Nahid Khodajo had been arrested on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at a friend’s home in Fardis, Karaj, after security forces raided and searched the house. She was then transferred to Evin Prison to serve her five-year sentence.

Ms. Khodajo, a labor activist and member of the Free Union of Iranian Workers as well as a former political prisoner, had previously been arrested on May 1, 2019, International Workers’ Day, in front of the Parliament building, and was released on bail on June 3, 2019.

It is worth noting that on August 1, 2019, she was tried at Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court on charges of “assembly and collusion to act against national security” and “disturbing public order and peace.” She was sentenced to a total of six years in prison and 74 lashes, a verdict that was fully upheld by the Court of Appeal.
