Hana: As we previously reported, in the early hours of Thursday, September 19, 2024, an armed clash occurred between a team of Peshmerga from one of the Kurdish parties of Iran and the IRGC forces in the Surin mountains, between the villages of Sianav and Eskol. The confrontation lasted several hours, during which the villages and mountains in the area were shelled by government forces.
According to a report received by Hana, one of the Peshmerga fighters, identified as "Rebwar Karimian," a resident of Darsiran, Marivan, was killed in this clash, and there is no precise information about the fate of the rest of the team members. Local reports suggest that three members of the IRGC were killed during the conflict, though their identities have not yet been confirmed by Hana.
It should be noted that the full details of this clash are not yet clear to the Hana Human Rights Organization.
A knowledgeable source told Hana that, following the implementation of a security agreement between Iran and Iraq and the relocation of Kurdish party camps in Iraqi Kurdistan to a camp under the control and supervision of the Kurdistan Regional Government’s security forces, some Peshmerga fighters, dissatisfied with this decision, were trying to settle in the border mountains to find a base for their activities.
