According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, today, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, Mohammadreza Gheytarani, a 22-year-old son of Jalal from the village of Gerdeh Yaghub near Mahabad and one of those arrested during the #Jina revolutionary movement, was detained after being summoned to the Criminal Enforcement Branch of Mahabad to serve his six-month prison sentence. He was subsequently transferred to the city’s prison.
Mohammadreza Gheytarani was sentenced to six months in prison by Branch 1 of the Revolutionary Court in Mahabad, presided over by Judge Doosti, on charges of “collaboration with a Kurdish opposition party to the Iranian government.” The sentence was issued to him on Tuesday, September 24, 2024.
Mohammad Gheytarani was initially arrested by security forces on July 11, 2024, and transferred to a security detention center in Orumiyeh for interrogation. After the interrogation process, he was transferred to Mahabad Prison and was eventually temporarily released on August 5, 2024, after posting bail of one billion tomans.
Previously, on September 23, 2022, during the #Jina revolutionary movement, Mr. Gheytarani was arrested by security forces in Esteghlal Square, Mahabad, and was released from prison after two months.
