According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, a worker identified as Mohammad Asadi Kia, an insulation specialist from Saqqez, lost his life in a fuel tanker explosion while working in the city of Sulaymaniyah, in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
According to the information obtained, the incident occurred while Mr. Asadi Kia and two other workers were installing insulation on the roof of a residential building when the fire flames spread to a fuel tanker located on the roof of a neighboring house, causing a powerful explosion.
As a result of the explosion, Mohammad Asadi Kia died instantly, and the two other workers were seriously injured, with the condition of one of them reported as critical.
