Members of Pazhar Maleki’s family were injured following an armed attack by IRGC forces on their home in Ilam

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization: on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, the maternal home of Pazhar Maleki, a writer and political activist, in Ilam province, was once again surrounded and subjected to an armed attack by IRGC forces.

Hana sources report that during this attack, Esmat Ghasemi, Pazhar Maleki’s mother, and his two brothers, Amin Maleki and Milad Maleki, were injured by gunfire from IRGC forces and were taken to medical facilities.

As of the time of this report, there is no detailed information available regarding their current physical condition. Pazhar Maleki, a writer and political activist, currently resides outside of Iran.

It should be noted that the family home of this political activist had previously been targeted in an armed attack during the nationwide protests of 2022, in which several family members were also injured.

Armed attacks on civilians and targeting the family members of political activists constitute a clear violation of the right to life and personal security, in serious conflict with Iran’s international human rights obligations, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
