According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization, on Thursday, 8 January 2026, a three-year-old child identified as Melina Asadi, from Kermanshah, was killed after being directly shot by forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran during popular protests on Tagh- Bostan Boulevard.
A knowledgeable source told Hana Human Rights Organization that Melina, aged three, was walking along Tagh-e Bostan Boulevard as a passerby with her parents when she was struck by direct live fire and lost her life.
The source further added that authorities of the Islamic Republic have pressured Melina Asadi’s family in an attempt to shift responsibility for the killing onto protesters—an action that has obstructed the family’s and the public’s access to the truth and constitutes a clear violation of international human rights obligations.
