Based on information received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on the evening of Sunday, 8 February 2026, a Kurdish citizen identified as Melika Kavandi, a former detainee of the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Woman, Life, Freedom) movement and a native of Bijar, was once again arrested by security forces and transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison.
According to received reports, Ms. Kavandi’s arrest was carried out under a judicial warrant issued by the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office of Bijar, and following her arrest, she was transferred to Sanandaj Central Prison to undergo judicial procedures.
Despite repeated follow-ups by her family, no clear information has been provided by judicial or security authorities regarding the reasons for her re-arrest or the charges brought against this Kurdish citizen.
It should be noted that Melika Kavandi had previously been arrested during the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi movement and spent approximately one month in Sanandaj Central Prison.
