Mehdi Hassani and Behrooz Ehsani Eslamloo transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison for execution

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization:

Today, Sunday, January 26, 2025, two political prisoners, Mehdi Hassani and Behrooz Ehsani Eslamloo, were transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj for the execution of their death sentences.

These two political prisoners were sentenced to death in late September 2024 by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari. On January 7, 2025, their death sentences were upheld by the Supreme Court without going through the appeal process.

Behrooz Ehsani Eslamloo, born in 1955, is 70 years old, married, and has two children. He is originally from Orumiyeh and resides in Tehran. He was arrested at his home by security forces in November 2022 and transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison, affiliated with the Ministry of Intelligence. After three and a half months of torture and interrogation, he was moved to Ward 4 of Evin Prison. In late September 2024, after 22 months of uncertainty, he was sentenced to death along with Mehdi Hassani by Judge Iman Afshari on charges of “rebellion, armed insurrection, corruption on earth, membership in the Mojahedin organization, collecting classified information, and conspiracy against national security.”

Mehdi Hassani, born in 1976, is from Zanjan, married, and has three children. He was arrested on September 11, 2022, in Zanjan and transferred to Ward 209 of Evin Prison. He endured prolonged physical and psychological torture before being moved to Ward 8 of Evin Prison.
