According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, October 11, 2025, Nabard Abdi, a stonemason and construction worker from Zhenin village and a resident of Marivan, lost his life after nearly a month in a coma caused by a fall from height.
According to the received reports, the incident occurred about a month ago while he was working on a stone installation project at a construction site located in the Peshmerga Square area of Marivan. During the incident, due to the collapse of scaffolding planks, three workers fell from a height and were all transferred to Bu-Ali Hospital in Marivan.
Nabard Abdi sustained severe injuries in the accident and had remained in a coma since the day of the incident before passing away due to the extent of his injuries.
He was married and the father of four children.
It is worth noting that in recent years, due to the lack of workplace safety measures and employers’ negligence toward labor protection standards, the number of work-related accidents in Kurdistan and other parts of Iran has been steadily increasing. According to international human rights and labor conventions, governments are obligated to ensure safe and healthy working conditions for all workers.
