According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization:
Mamosta Barzan Maleki, a Friday prayer leader, congregational imam, and one of the instructors at the Sheikhain Grand Mosque in Sanandaj, has once again been summoned by the Special Clergy Court in Hamedan.
This Kurdish Sunni cleric, who had previously been temporarily released on heavy bail amounting to one billion tomans, has now been summoned to appear before the court on Tuesday, June 9, 2025, to present his final defense.
Mamosta Barzan Maleki had previously been arrested by security forces on Monday, May 26, 2025, after attending a hearing at the Special Clergy Court in Hamedan.
One day prior to his arrest, on Sunday, May 25, 2025, he had been summoned to the Sanandaj Intelligence Office, where he was interrogated for approximately two hours.
Additionally, on Monday, January 27, 2025, security forces intercepted the vehicle carrying Mamosta Maleki and a group of his students on the road between Dehgolan and Sanandaj (about 20 kilometers from Sanandaj) and prevented them from traveling to Zahedan. The trip was being made in response to an official invitation from Makki Mosque. Mamosta Maleki and his companions were detained for a period of time during this incident.
