The Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, Khaled Bayzidi, a Kurdish political prisoner held in Oshnavieh Prison, was transferred to Oshnavieh Hospital and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) due to the worsening of his heart condition and the lack of adequate medical care.
According to Hana’s sources, Mr. Bayzidi—whose physician had previously declared that imprisonment was life-threatening for him—was transferred to Oshnavieh Prison on October 27, 2025 to serve a five-year prison sentence. The doctor had warned that he required constant specialized cardiac care and that imprisonment under current conditions posed a serious risk to his life.
A source informed Hana that despite repeated requests by Mr. Bayzidi and his family to the Oshnavieh court and prosecutor’s office for specialized medical treatment, judicial and security officials ignored their pleas.
The source added that throughout the nine days of his detention in Oshnavieh Prison, Mr. Bayzidi suffered from severe heart pain and a deteriorating physical condition, without access to medicine or medical facilities. His health continued to decline until November 4, when he was finally transferred to the hospital.
Since his transfer, the family of Mr. Bayzidi has been denied the right to visit him, having only been allowed a brief meeting during the first nine days of his imprisonment.
Khaled Bayzidi, 43 years old, married, and the father of three children from Oshnavieh, was sentenced in September 2025 by Branch 101 of the Oshnavieh Criminal Court II to five years in prison on charges of “collaboration with a Kurdish opposition party.”
He was previously arrested on June 18, 2025, by security forces and transferred to a security detention facility in Orumiyeh. After completing the interrogation process, he was temporarily released on bail of 500 million tomans.
The Hana Human Rights Organization expresses grave concern over Mr. Bayzidi’s health and safety, holding the security and judicial authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran fully responsible for any harm that may come to him. Hana calls for his immediate release or permanent transfer to a specialized medical facility under the supervision of independent physicians.
