Kazhal Vatanpour was arrested by security forces

Hana Human Rights Organization has learned that Kazhal Vatanpour, a Kurdish jurist and human rights activist, has been arrested by security forces in Gilan-e Gharb.

Kazhal Vatanpour had previously been arrested during the Woman, Life, Freedom movement and was subjected to severe psychological and physical torture by security forces.

She was ultimately sentenced to two years and six months of imprisonment by the Revolutionary Court on security-related charges, following what were described as fabricated scenarios by security agents.

It is worth noting that, as of the time of publication of this report, no information is available regarding her whereabouts or condition. Hana Human Rights Organization has expressed serious concern and, until her legal status is clarified, considers this arrest to constitute enforced disappearance by the security forces of the Islamic Republic.
