January protests / Zahra Eidi Nejad was killed following gunfire by repressive forces in Mashhad

According to reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization: on Thursday, 8 January 2026, a Kurdish citizen identified as Zahra Eidi Nejad, 28 years old and a native of the city of Quchan in Razavi Khorasan Province, was killed during popular protests in Park Square, Mashhad, as a result of a direct shot from live ammunition fired by repressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

According to further reports, the body of this Kurdish citizen was handed over to her family on 12 January 2026 and was subsequently buried in her hometown of Quchan.
