The Hana Human Rights Organization reports that on Thursday, 8 January 2026, Yousef Elhami, a 22-year-old Kurdish citizen from Shirvan County in North Khorasan Province and a resident of Mashhad, was killed during popular protests in the city after being directly shot with live ammunition by forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
According to Hana’s sources, his family was forced to pay money to security institutions in order to receive his body.
Yousef Elhami was laid to rest on 16 January 2026 in Hossein Abad, his home village in Shirvan County.
