January protests / Seyed Amir Rostamian killed during the January protests in Karaj

Based on reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, a 23-year-old Kurdish citizen named Seyed Amir Rostamian, a follower of the Yarsan faith and a resident of Qasr-e Shirin, was killed in Fardis, Karaj, during public protests. According to reports, his family was informed of his death on Monday, February 2, 2026. His body had been held at the Kahrizak detention center, and the death certificate falsely listed the cause of death as a stroke. Under security pressure, his body was buried on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
