Based on reports received by the Hana Human Rights Organization, during the January 2026 protests, a Kurdish citizen identified as Arian Sohrabi, 20 years old and a resident of Abdanan, was injured as a result of direct gunfire by the Islamic Republic of Iran’s security forces.
According to Hana’s sources, security forces used live ammunition and deliberately targeted Arian Sohrabi in the left eye. As a result of this shooting, he has completely lost vision in his left eye.
This act constitutes a clear violation of human rights, the unlawful and disproportionate use of weapons against unarmed protesters, and a serious breach of citizens’ right to life and physical integrity. The Hana Human Rights Organization strongly condemns this violent conduct and calls for independent and transparent investigations, as well as accountability for both the perpetrators and those who ordered this crime.
