According to the Hana Human Rights Organization, on the evening of Friday, January 9, 2026, a 43-year-old Kurdish woman named Leila Shokri, from Hamedan and residing in Qarchak, Varamin, Tehran, lost her life during popular protests in Tehran as a result of live gunfire by the repressive forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Leila Shokri was married and the mother of three children. According to reports received, she was standing beside a tree when she was targeted in the head by a sniper of the Islamic Republic. Despite being transferred to the hospital, she succumbed to the severity of her injuries.
It should be noted that her body was buried under tight security measures in the Qarchak Cemetery.
