According to reports received by Hana Human Rights Organization, a Kurdish citizen identified as Jabar Azizi, a civil activist from Javanrud, has been summoned to court for reposting an audio file and exposing instances of financial corruption in the Rawansar Municipality. This summons follows a complaint filed by Farhad Tabzar, the former mayor of Rawansar, along with several city council members.
According to received reports, Jabar Azizi had disclosed information regarding the employment of the mayor’s wife with a monthly salary of 22 million tomans, as well as the suspicious monthly transfer of 600 million tomans from the municipality’s account to a contractor’s account. Previously, an audio recording circulated on social media in which a contractor named Yousefi claimed to have paid more than 60 gold coins as bribes to Farhad Tabzar and several members of the Rawansar City Council.
Last year, a legal complaint was filed regarding this audio file. However, with the influence of Molla Qader Qaderi, the Friday prayer leader of Paveh, the case was dismissed, and the mayor and city council members were acquitted. Now, after a year, Jabar Azizi is facing legal action by local officials for reposting this information.
It is reported that Farhad Tabzar, the former mayor, has previously been implicated in multiple cases of financial corruption and nepotistic hiring practices in the municipalities of Javanrud and Rawansar. However, with the support of local security and religious institutions, he has remained immune from prosecution.
