Hana: On Monday, May 5, 2025, the Special Court for the Clergy in Orumiyeh sentenced two Sunni clerics—Mamosta Dr. Salam Mahmoudian, the Friday prayer leader of the village of Beyuran-e Sofla, and Mamosta Hassan Khezri, the Friday prayer leader of the village of Beyuran-e Olya, both located in Sardasht County—to two years of suspended imprisonment and a monetary fine of 20 million tomans each.
According to received reports, the trial for the charges against these two Kurdish clerics was held on Monday, May 5, at the Special Court for the Clergy in Orumiyeh, and the preliminary verdict was issued to them.
It is worth noting that both clerics had expressed support for protesters, the wounded, and the families of those killed during the 2022 “Women, Life, Freedom” revolutionary movement. As a result, they were repeatedly summoned and pressured by security agencies. Following continued threats and security pressure, cases were fabricated against them, ultimately leading to their sentencing by the Special Court for the Clergy in Orumiyeh.
